Tessa of the Gardens Countess Salt-Preserved Lemons: A quick start to a 30-day wait. 12th-century method of salt-preserving lemons for storage out of season as used by Sultan Saladin's court physician. Basic preparation with no cooking involved. Your lemons will need to be set aside for 30 days. Donation of $2 is appreciated for cost of small jar and lid; or bring your own jar with lid for no cost.

In this class, we will be discussing how to care for your instrument while being a SCAdian. Topics of discussion will include the do's and don'ts of outdoor playing, cleaning and repairs, and suggestions for equipment and accessories to make life easier on your instrument. All from the perspective of a professional luthier apprentice and instrument technician.

The class will be focused on wooden musical instruments, but all kinds (including metal, clay, and skin-membrane) are welcome.

Lord Roland of Westminster Bow Making for Beginners The basic steps between starting with a tree and ending up with a working bow will be discussed. Making a bow starting with a board from a lumber yard will also be addressed. Mistakes made and lessons learned at the school of hard knocks will be reviewed. Lord Rüdiger of Flaming Gryphon Moneying 101: Making Medieval Coins This all-day, hands on workshop will walk students through making a coin die using medieval techniques. We will discuss history of period coinage as well as techniques used to create blanks, punches, and tools used in the moneying process. Students will walk away with one die of their design and struck coins. Please bring your own chair. 5 at any one time. Class is open all day.
